I have been bursting to share this one with you, only I have had to keep it a secret until Santa had been !

For my wonderful Nephew, Ollie, a friend and I made this play quilt out of the Timeless Treasures Knights and Castles range.  Eileen was amazing with her wonderful offer of help and I am sure I wouldn’t have finished it in time without her !
We appliqued castles and moats to a 1.2m square piece of green marble effect fabric. Added a drawbridge and wall to each castle and covered the play mat with little pieces of velcro strips. The velcro strips can be used to randomly attach the Knights bean bags I made using the matching label strips.

We backed the piece in the picture print action fabric of the Knights fighting and parading around the castles. Eileen put her talents to work and free machine qulited windy swirls and vermilcelli all over the quilt.

I am planning to produce this as a pattern to download on the main website when you purchase any of the corresponding fabric - so watch this space !! For more excellent fabric offers and quilting products please check out the website today

Hi Everyone !

I hope you all enjoyed a fabulous Christmas Break. Just wanted to share some of these charming pickies with you. On the Monday directly before Christmas, we had the last Mum’s and Tots Messy Play at the shop.

The children had an amazing crafty time, sticking and gluing, and generally making a mess. Here are a couple of shots of Katie and Chloe showing us the wonderful decorated shades they have made !!

Messy Play will restart on Monday 6th January at 1.30pm - 3.30pm

Cost is only £3 per child ( £5 if 2 children from same family) and Mum will get a comfy chair and a cuppa.

Christmas Crafting with Nimble Fingerz of Rothwell

Rothwell’s Tuesday night cross-stitch club would like to wish all bloggers and fellow stitchers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy andProsperous New Year.

We are always looking for new members - and meet at 7.45pm every Tuesday in the workrooms upstairs at Nimble Fingerz Craft Centre in Rothwell.  Fully floodlight, warm and very safe - you will find us down the driveway just off School Lane behind Calvary Church / Reachout Community Church. ( for old Rowellians, where Phoenix Printing used to be ) 

If you are really not sure, please ask in the Rothwell Heritage Centre as during the day you can access the Crafter Centre through the Arts & Heritage Centre as well.

New members are always welcome : - we cover a wide variety of crafts from Papercrafts and Card Making to Latch hook rugs, and Crochet.  All abilites are welcome, just bring your own project and your sense of humour. Then we’ll provide the company and the tea !

How to make a square box using the Ultimate Pro from Crafters Companion.

TIP:  You must start with 2 pieces of card the exact same size ( and shape if you are adventurous and trying a triangle or hexagon)

Take the first square of card and butt it up to the edge of the “base” side on the box maker on the Ultimate scoring board.  Choose how deep you would like your box to end up depending on the number of scoring lines you count in. Score this line at the same depth on all four sides of you square.

NOW turn your ultimate pro round so that you will be working on the “lid” section of the board and taking your remaining piece of card, repeat the above steps.

TIP:  to avoid making 2 bases or 2 lids, it is always a good idea to score, turn and score before doing any other cutting of your pieces or embellishing. It is easy to get distracted andforget which one you have done.

Now you have two, very similar scored pieces. Taking a sharp pair of papercraft scissors, snip a dart at each of the four corners to create a tab. Fold and crease all of your lines and then secure together using a high tack double sided tape.

Repeat this process with the other half and you should have a completed box.
